Double Day blog!

Well, we've had our first two days at Disney. Yesterday, we started out at the Animal Kingdom - thanks to jet lag, we were up early enough to be there for opening.  The park is fantastic, and was a good choice for the first day. The plan was take it easy and see how Chris got on going round on crutches. The safari was amazing, you don't know what you'll see round the next corner, and the guide really knew her stuff. Next was a wander to Harambe Train Station to round to Rafiki's Planet Watch, where I was in the right place at the right time to meet Rafiki - he's a cheeky flirt! Although everyone seems to look for the big animals, we spent some time watching the butterfly garden as well, where we spotted a couple of little lizards sunning themselves! Back on the train to Africa, we walked from there to Asia, where we came upon the Kali River Rapids. We should have known better, we should have gone to Expedition Everest and come back later, but no. Trust me, if any...

What a day!

Yesterday got off to a good start, through bag drop and security within 15 minutes, thanks to a combination of Premium Economy tickets, and Chris' crutches. We knew early on that the flight was running half an hour late, although in actual fact, it ended up closer to an hour and a half.  It's a little disconcerting when you're already sitting on the plane, and they start talking about "computer problems"!! Other than that, the flight was uneventful, with the best food and service I've had on a transatlantic flight! Immigration at Orlando was similar to Manchester in that it was a case of "Crutches? Come this way to special assistance, rather than queueing up behind a couple of plane loads!" It took longer to get our baggage back! Alamo didn't give us the hard sell on upgrades we were expecting, and we left in a very nice Kia Sorrento! The trip to the condo? Well, other than the fact we thought we were lost, but weren't - the sat nav seem...

That's the holiday started!

Well, we're checked into the Radisson, we've completed online check in for the flight, and have just got back from Callaghan's, which is our favourite airport eatery. Lazy evening, early night and early start tomorrow. All set and ready for Florida!!!

One week to go!

I can't believe it's 9 months since we booked, the time has flown, but this time next week, we'll be getting ready to board our flight to Orlando. We're as packed as we can be, just need the daily last minute odds and ends that we'll be using during the week. As ever, we're heading to Manchester on Sunday and staying over in preparation for an early start.  I love getting through security early so we can relax with breakfast, duty free and people watching before we fly. Disney and Universal tickets are booked, as is the Baseball - we're finally trying the Major Leagues, with a trip to see the Tampa Bay Rays v the Boston Red Sox.  And we just need to book for Capone's dinner show. Can't wait!

Planning ahead

Well, it’s been quiet here! We decided to take a year off, so Chris could learn to drive and get a car, and we could save up for a special holiday next year.  I can’t believe this, but we both turn 40! So, flights and condo are now booked, and we are going to Florida! Flights are Virgin Atlantic Premium Economy, and the Condo is a 2 bed apartment in a gated community called Windsor Hills, which is just a few short miles from Disney – in fact, we pass it on the way there from the airport, I think. We have lots of plans to make in the next 10 months, and since Florida has a lot more ground to cover than NYC, I think we might have to be a bit more organised this time round! Disney and the theme parks are a must, as is Universal Studios, where the new Despicable Me ride should be open (Chris edit: IT'S SO FLUFFY!!!).  We’ll be heading to the Kennedy Space centre, and our baseball team this time round will be the Brevard County Manatees – for no other reason, than I love the m...

New blog

This is a companion blog to Mo & Chris in NY .  We're looking at going somewhere different next year, maybe Boston, so a more general name seemed suitable! Planning starts here.
