Double Day blog!

Well, we've had our first two days at Disney.
Yesterday, we started out at the Animal Kingdom - thanks to jet lag, we were up early enough to be there for opening.  The park is fantastic, and was a good choice for the first day. The plan was take it easy and see how Chris got on going round on crutches. The safari was amazing, you don't know what you'll see round the next corner, and the guide really knew her stuff. Next was a wander to Harambe Train Station to round to Rafiki's Planet Watch, where I was in the right place at the right time to meet Rafiki - he's a cheeky flirt!
Although everyone seems to look for the big animals, we spent some time watching the butterfly garden as well, where we spotted a couple of little lizards sunning themselves!
Back on the train to Africa, we walked from there to Asia, where we came upon the Kali River Rapids. We should have known better, we should have gone to Expedition Everest and come back later, but no. Trust me, if anyone tells you that you'll only get a little bit wet... there's no such thing! We were drenched! We decided that we would be better giving up and going home to dry off, and leave Everest for another day!
Once we were dried out, changed and via a supermarket, we decided to spend the evening at Downtown Disney - lots of eateries, shopping and entertainment, including plenty of people watching! As with most of Disney, you can't really appreciate how big it is from pictures and maps, you need to be there! DTD is a great place to go just to chill out.
Day two, and we headed for Epcot. After Cinderella's Castle in the Magic Kingdom, the dome of Spaceship Earth is probably the most iconic image of Walt Disney World.  We had a look round Future World, but will go back another for the rides. We then headed for the World Showcase, where Chris finally gave in and decided to hire a wheelchair for the rest of the day. Given that the usual idea of Disney is jam-packed busy, it was remarkable calm and chilled out.
Lunch was a jumbo turkey leg at the Fife and Drum Tavern in the American section, where we were lucky enough to catch some of the street shows - Civil War drum and flute reenactors! Not what you expect to see with lunch!
After that, the heavens opened! We've had a couple of showers since we got here and when it rains in Florida, oh boy, it rains! However, the showers thankfully haven't lasted more than 5, 10 minutes at a time.
Once we finished with Epcot for the day, we decided to try and scope out the area near where we're staying. We've found a few of the shops we were looking for, and also Capones, where we're going on Friday. As ever, my craft radar was working, and I also found Joann's, where, I must admit, one or two goodies dropped into my basket! Well, at those prices, and with 30,40% off everything I bought, it would have been rude not to!
Stopped at Ponderosa on the way home for dinner, and are having a chilled out evening before tackling either Hollywood Studios or Magic Kingdom tomorrow. Or we may have an off-park day and go shopping!
