Can't believe it's our last few days here!

Saturday, as planned, was back to EPCOT. We mooched mainly round Future World, including Living with The Land and Spaceship Earth. We also caught the other half of the World Showcase that we skipped due to the rain. Recharged back at the flat, and went back in the evening for Illuminations: Reflections on Earth. Stunning show technically, but it didn't grab our imaginations in the same way was Wishes or Fantasmic. Of the three shows, I think we both prefer fantasmic.
Sunday was a lazy day, most things were packed as it was Fathers Day, but we did fit in a game of mini golf. Well, you're in Florida, some things just have to be done! In the evening, we were lucky enough to watch one of the most fantastic electrical storms we've ever seen. The sky was aglow! Now, we could get annoyed that the weather is disrupting plans, but honestly it was worth watching and enjoying - from the comfort of our enclosed balcony, anyway!
Monday was back to Universal. While I would rate Islands of Adventure over Universal studios, I would still rate Disney over both.
It did mean we could have lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe, and the Orlando HRC holds memorabilia from one of my favourite films, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I got chatting to one of the waitresses about it, and as we were leaving, she came over and apologised! She'd tried to get them to play The Timewarp, but it was too early in the day! Was so chuffed she'd tried, though!
In line with the weather for the rest of the trip, the skies opened about half way round. We'll probably get a one day ticket if we come back, or not bother with Universal at all next time.
Today found us back at EPCOT again, and the weather couldn't have been any further removed from previous visits. Originally we were going to do the aquarium area, and then hop to Hollywood Studios for the backlot tour, but instead we decided to hang about. Had lunch sitting at the rose garden, the caught Off Kilter at the Canadian showcase, and British Revolution in the UK. Left around tea time, and finished off the day with a last Walmart shop, including a large suitcase, and peanut butter m&ms!
Tomorrow, we're aiming to get to Magic Kingdom for rope drop!

    at last!! was starting to wonder what had happened to you. Where are the photos of this storm? Don't think you are coming back to work and I am going to be a captured audience for all your photos, LOL! I may relent and look at the disney ones.xx

One week to go!

I can't believe it's 9 months since we booked, the time has flown, but this time next week, we'll be getting ready to board our flight to Orlando. We're as packed as we can be, just need the daily last minute odds and ends that we'll be using during the week. As ever, we're heading to Manchester on Sunday and staying over in preparation for an early start.  I love getting through security early so we can relax with breakfast, duty free and people watching before we fly. Disney and Universal tickets are booked, as is the Baseball - we're finally trying the Major Leagues, with a trip to see the Tampa Bay Rays v the Boston Red Sox.  And we just need to book for Capone's dinner show. Can't wait!

Scooters, baseball and doctors

So, Sunday, lazy day. Chris hired a scooter for the rest of the trip, which makes life so much easier. We mooched about and explored the area, and spent the evening at Downtown Disney, which is a great place to hang out and chill. Monday, was Universal, and to be honest, we both preferred Disney. Not that there's anything wrong with Universal, but Disney just feels better. We're going back later in the week to do Islands of Adventure. On the way home, we stopped back at DTD, since the weather was better, and the hot air balloon was running. Fab views, and I can tick that off the bucket list! The evening was spent at one of the outlet malls - think Freeport on steroids! Tuesday was Tampa, where we went to the Dali museum, and the Tampa Bay Rays v Boston Red Sox match. Home team won, yay! When it's too wet for Ducks!

Woke up this morning to the best weather since we arrived so, armed with sunscreen and hats, we headed for The Big One - The Magic Kingdom. Wow! That's all I can say for first impressions! When we parked up, we decided to get the ferry across to the park, rather than the monorail, and I was treated to our first peek at Cinderella's castle! After EPCOT, Chris decided to get a chair from the outset, and went for one of the electric scooters, which he decided was well worth the money. After wandering along Main Street USA, and chatting to the Mayor, we realised we were just in time for the Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It Street Party.  Ever seen a crab and a candelabra boogieing on down? Come to Disney! Totally unexpected, and a great start to the day! Next stop, Adventureland, and the Jungle Cruise, with a tour guide who had a fab line in puns!
