When it's too wet for Ducks!

Woke up this morning to the best weather since we arrived so, armed with sunscreen and hats, we headed for The Big One - The Magic Kingdom.
Wow! That's all I can say for first impressions! When we parked up, we decided to get the ferry across to the park, rather than the monorail, and I was treated to our first peek at Cinderella's castle!
After EPCOT, Chris decided to get a chair from the outset, and went for one of the electric scooters, which he decided was well worth the money.
After wandering along Main Street USA, and chatting to the Mayor, we realised we were just in time for the Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It Street Party.  Ever seen a crab and a candelabra boogieing on down? Come to Disney! Totally unexpected, and a great start to the day!
Next stop, Adventureland, and the Jungle Cruise, with a tour guide who had a fab line in puns! Then, onto Aladdin's Flying Carpets, followed by the Pirates of the Carribean ride. Out through the mandatory gift shop, and on into Frontierland, where we headed for Splash Mountain. After the Kali River Rapids, we were a little worried about how wet we'd get, but it was fine. A few baby drops on the flume, before you hit the big one, a 50 ft, very steep drop!
Slightly damp, just enough to cool us off, we headed into Liberty Square, where we had our first experience of Disney dining, at the Diamond Horseshoe. One of their quick serve restaurants, they serve big, chunky carvery sandwiches, with fresh cooked crisps. De-lish!
Hall of Presidents was next, with a whistlestop tour of American History, from the Declaration of Independence onwards, followed by animatronics of all the presidents; Lincoln standing to deliver the Gettysburg Address, and Barack Obama taking the Oath of Office. So realistic, it's a touch creepy, but really well done.
When we came out, we realised we were just in time, and in a perfect spot to enjoy the Celebrate A Dream Come True Parade!
Just as the parade passed, we felt a couple of drops of rain. So, we headed across the street to board the Liberty Belle paddle steamer - a trip round the lake undercover would be the perfect place to escape a light shower.
If only!
About 5mins after we boarded, the skies opened! Five minutes later, they announced that due to the weather they wouldn't be sailing, and we all needed to get off! No real surprise as by this time there were storm warnings for the area!
We spent the next hour sheltering from the worst thunderstorm I have seen! It was even too wet for a couple of the ducks, who joined us under the shelter at one point!
Eventually, the rain let off enough to dash for the gates, we were just too wet to hang around!
The monorail back to the car park takes you passed the Grand Floridian, one of the deluxe resorts. Looks nice, but I love where we're staying.
So, now we're back at the condo; if the rain eases, we'll head back to DTD later. If not, well I'm quite happy tucked up away from the rain!
Let's see what the weather brings tomorrow before we plan!
Watch the sky in the parade pictures, you can actually see the storm coming in!
